Lead King Basin, Marble, CO
On the morning of September 8th, Morgan and I ventured up to Lead King Basin for the weekend. After passing through the old mining town of Crystal, Colorado we turned up the old Lead King Basin Trail. This access is incredibly steep and rocky and tested both my Polaris Ranger XP and the Timberline Trailer. I don’t believe another trailer could make that climb. This trail is an expert only trail and we don’t recommend pulling any trailer up this or a similar route. After breaking out of the trees at 9800’ above sea level we quickly set up camp and set off for a hike up to Geneva Lake just under 11,000’, right at tree line in this part of the Rockies. Back at camp we enjoyed a hearty meal of grilled cheese and chicken and wild rice soup prepared on the Timberline’s 3-burner propane stove. After dinner it was a relaxing evening sitting around the campfire and eating freshly popped popcorn. At dark we moved into the annex room for a few games of cribbage before falling asleep. That night it rained for almost seven hours; we were grateful to be off the ground, high, dry and warm in the Timberline’s raised tent. We are already planning our next trip to Moab. Where would you go in your Timberline Trailer?
